How to add blogger to your Website

A tutorial to show you how to add the blogger to your website! In my recent search on how to add Blogger to our Children's Clothing Website, my search left me with many questions unanswered. There are many great blog programs out there, like WordPress, and many others. We decided on Blogger for a few reasons.

Its Easy to use and its Free.

I had to conduct a few searches in order to finally add Blogger to our Baby Clothing Site, only because a few of the tutorials that I came upon on the net, were, either not up to date, or had some information missing; information I really needed in order to complete this task.

1. Before you start you will need a few simple things like your FTP log-name to access your website and your password. You should also log in to your website to confirm your log in info works and also create a folder in your websites directory. This is the directory where your blog will be stored.

Example: /public_html/blog/

2. I named my directory "blog" for this example, but you could use what ever name you would like to give this directory. Then open your blog directory and create a simple blank .html page. You will need to name this page, and it could be anything, as long as it has an extension of .html. Example: index.html or youblog.html.

Now we are ready to move forward:

3. First you will need to get yourself setup with a Blogger account at Blogger.com

4. Once you get all this setup, then you will need to log into you account, then go to the settings tab, then publishing tab.

5. At the FTP Server field. Here you will enter your FTP URL Example: "ftp.yourdomainName.com" "without quotes"

6. Blog URL: Enter "http://www.yourDomainName.com" "without quotes"

7. FTP PATH: In our example it would be "/public_html/blog" "without quotes"

8. BLOG FILENAME: Here you are going to enter whatever you named your file in step 2, but it has to be EXACT so you could enter something like this: "yourblog.html" "without quotes"

9. FEED FILENAME: Leave it as is, with "atom.xml" in there, not to worry it will over-wright it anyways.

10. FTP UserName: Has to be the correct one, or it will not be able to access your server.

11. FTP PASSWORD: Has to be the correct one, or it will not be able to access your server.

Once this is done, you will need to publish, and thats how easy it should be. If you followed all these steps you should be able to see your blog under your domains name now.

If you find any errors with this write or have some additional steps you feel would assist others please send me an EMAIL to “fonseca1@cfl.rr.com” Please include Subject Blogger Instructions
